What are the hospital fees?
If you have private health insurance, please call your fund and ask if you are covered for the Medicare item number 31527. If you are covered, you may have an excess and/or co-payment fee but the remaining hospital fees are billed to your fund.
If you don’t have private health insurance, there will be fees payable directly to the hospital. Please speak to our staff for more information.
Are there any rebates for surgery?
Yes, there are rebates available for a gynaecomastia (male breast reduction) procedure from Medicare and health fund, if any. The current rebates are at least $800!
You are also entitled to claim a 20% tax rebate once you spend over $1500 (after any Medicare or fund rebates). Please find out more information from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) or your tax agent. Click here for more information.
How soon can I have surgery?
Generally, there is a short waiting list. Please speak to our staff for details on theatre availability.
Where is the surgery performed?
Surgery is performed at an accredited hospital under general anaesthetic. We do not recommend or offer surgery in-rooms or under local anaesthetic with sedation.
Will I need to stay overnight?
No, a gynaecomastia (male breast reduction) is a short procedure and you will be able to go home on the same day.
